Punk Rock Republican

Every Sunday afternoon, we have "punk rock Sunday" at my house. My neighbor is a guitar player in a punk band and they practice. I don't mind. They seem to be having alot of fun and hell, I respect punk. So I've always thought of my neighbor and his girlfriend as "cool". They drink beer in the back yard. I drink beer in the back yard. We talk about our animals, etc. So I was shocked when they put up a yard sign for a Republican House candidate. How can you be punk and be Republican? I mean isn't the ethos of punk rock, anti-establishment? Screw the man, right? I can't think of anything more "establishment" than the Republicans....I mean they are in bed with big oil, corporations and the religious right! It reminds me of that Don Henley song...."out on the road today, I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac." Sigh.

  1. Yeah, it's very un-punk. I always thought the punk motto was: "eat the rich".
oh, and the Ataris did an appropriate version of that Don Henley song: Out on the road today I saw a Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac
A little voice inside my head said
"Don't look back you can never look back"
